Dr. Ridruejo currently works as the Head of the Hepatology Section from the Department of Medicine at Center for Medical Education and Clinical Research, Norberto Quirno CEMIC in Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. He received his medical degree from Salvador University and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Center for Medical Education and Clinical Research, Norberto Quirno CEMIC and in University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He subsequently completed his training in Hepatology Baylor College of Medicine and in the Eugene B. Casey Hepatitis and AIDS Diagnostic Laboratory in Houston, Texas under the direction of H. Blaine Hollinger.

He is a member of the different national and international scientific societies including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), and the Latin-American Association for the Study of the Liver (ALEH). He Chairs the ALEH group of Interest in Viral Hepatitis. He was president of the Argentine Society of Hepatology (SAHe) and is currently a member of the SAHe Subcommittee on Viral Hepatitis. He is a Researcher at the Academic Unit of the Research Institute at the Center for Medical Education and Clinical Research, Norberto Quirno CEMIC. He is a member of the Career of the Scientific Researcher of CONICET (National Council for Scientific and Technical Research) and has a doctoral degree in Medicine obtained at the at the Laboratory of Biological Effects of Environmental Contaminants, Department of Human Biochemistry, School of Medicine, Universidad de Buenos Aires in the Basic Sciences area.

Dr. Ridruejo’s areas of interest are viral hepatitis, hepatocarcinoma, and the development of hepatocarcinogenesis and its prevention. He has co-authored over 140 articles published in peer-reviewed journals, including Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology, Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Journal of Viral Hepatitis, Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Journal of Clinical Virology, PLoS One and Liver International. He has presented nearly 300 abstracts at national and international meetings and has written four book chapters.
